A beautiful smile is an ornament everyone wants to own. It successfully creates a wonderful first impression and gives you more confidence. A smile is believed to be the first thing people notice during a meeting. Therefore spending the time to correct teeth errors and beautify the smile is definitely worth it. When the teeth are crowded, misaligned or when there are gaps between them, an orthodontic treatment may be necessary to improve the alignment. Invisalign is one of the advanced orthodontic solutions offered at our Cudahy office for teeth misalignment. The aligners straighten teeth by moving them in the desired direction. A treatment plan is preset based on the needs of the patient and a preview of the expected result is provided before the treatment starts off. Patients can rest assured they get a better smile through our Invisalign, provided they adhere to aligner disciplines. Why straighten teeth?
There are few oral health and esthetic benefits of teeth straightening. To understand the benefits, one should know what occlusion and malocclusion mean. The upper and lower teeth come together in a bite. The manner in which they are aligned is called occlusion. When the teeth are crowded or when there is a deviation from their normal positions, the bite is abnormal or there is malocclusion. This can lead to a number of oral health issues.
When teeth are straightened, the smile looks more attractive and there can be an improvement in oral health. Though Invisalign may not be the right solution for all malocclusion cases, it can treat mild to moderate conditions. Our dentist performs a thorough oral check to let patients know if Invisalign is suitable for their problem. The Invisalign benefits
Invisalign system has a series of clear aligners that apply mild pressure over teeth to move them in planned direction. The aligners are clear and have few benefits over traditional orthodontic appliances.
The first phase involves a thorough oral examination. We take impressions of teeth and Dr. Alarcon checks the extent of misalignment. This helps us in letting patients know if Invisalign is a suitable treatment option for their case. We also check for signs of gum problems and tooth decay which may have to be treated first. On confirmation that Invisalign treatment is suitable for the case, we explain the treatment to patients and receive their approval.
Impressions of teeth are sent in electronic format to the Invisalign team. Our dentist sets a treatment plan and explains it to the Invisalign team. The treatment plan is converted into 3D digital model and sent back to our office. On approval of the treatment plan, aligners are fabricated in the lab.
A series of aligners are necessary to bring about the planned changes. Each pair of aligners should be worn for about 2 weeks after which it is exchanged with another pair. The patient may be asked to visit our office once in 6 weeks to check the changes in teeth position. The aligners should be worn at least for 22 hours a day. Treatment may take about 12 to 18 months. With proper oral care and usage, Invisalign can bring about a positive change in the smile.
